Conversation With a 4 Year Old

By Karen Kinter

This is an exerpt of a conversation I had with my 4-year old yesterday in the span of about 10 minutes.

What a trip to get inside their little minds!

"Mom, look at my cut" (paper cut)

"Does it hurt?"

"No. Mom, if you cut off someone's head, there would be blood, right?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Mom, look at those trees."

"Uh-huh."

"Mom, clouds can look like animals, right?"

"Right, honey"

"Mom, if someone's skin came off, there would be blood."

"Uh, Sure...it would probably hurt."

At this point, I'm wondering if Rob had let them watch 'Silence of the Lambs' while I was running errands last night.

"Mom...we don't want to take someone's brain out, do we?"

"Not really. That would definitely hurt."

"Mom, if the wind blew hard, the tree would crash on our house, right?"

"No, probably not. A tornado can knock down a house but we don't get many tornadoes."

"Oh. Mom, why do birds poop all over the place?"

"Because they don't have bird potties."

Should I start to worry?!

. . . . . . . . . .
