By Laura Luna
I laid in bed shivering under two
goose down comforters and an afghan my grandmother
made, trying to sweat out a fever.
"Hey, Mom." I felt my six year old
son standing over the edge of my bed.
"Uh," I grunted without looking.
"How much would I weigh on
Jupiter?"
I opened one eye to see if he was
serious.
"How much would I weigh on
Jupiter?"
"How much do you weigh on Earth?"
I asked.
I heard his feet pad down the
hallway and I closed my open eye.
"495 pounds," he called from the
bathroom.
I pulled a comforter over my head.
"495 pounds?"
"Yeah, that's what the numbers
say. A four, then a nine and a five."
"Oh, you weigh 49 and a half
pounds."
"So how much is that on Jupiter?"
he persisted.
I gave him the only answer I knew,
"Go ask your Dad."
