Oh Little Boy Blue
This is the song we wrote when
Arlyn was born. It’s to the tune of “It Had To Be
You”
Oh Little Boy Blue, oh Little Boy
Blue,
No one could us warn
‘Til the day you were born
How very much we’d love you!
So precious and new, too sweet to
be true!
We’ll keep you safe from all harm
Here warm in our arms
As you snuggle and coo!
One and one now is three: Arlyn,
Mom and Daddy
Oh beloved little boy,
Our bundle of joy
Welcome to the family!
For nobody else can make our
hearts thrill
We love you now, and always will
Oh Little Boy Blue
It had to be you!
Our Little Boy Blue!
Pooping Song I
We came up with this the first
time Arlyn went 3+ days between BMs. Every time he’d
fart we’d run to check his diaper! It’s to the tune
of “Frere Jacques.”
Are you pooping, are you pooping
Oh my son? Oh my son?
I hope that you are pooping
Filling up your diaper
Little one, little one!
Pooping Song II
This commemorates some of the
blowouts he’s had. To the tune of “Row Your Boat”
Poop, poop, poop, my child
Empty out your bowels!
You’ll need a bath but that’s OK
That’s why we have towels!
Arlyn’s Lullaby, or How Our Family
Came To Be
Since we’re big into cycling, what
better song to start from than “Daisy, Daisy?” Note
that “Bill Boston” refers to the builder of
Michael’s vintage 1977 custom-built bike.
Mikey, Mikey, cycling for many a
year
His Bill Boston’s a treasure that he holds dear
He’s ready to start a new life
Having recently split from his old wife
So he looked for fun
And social action
On his bicycle built for one!
Amy, Amy, cross training on her
bike
But riding alone she doesn’t really like
One day she meets Mike on a club ride
And decides that her place is by his side.
Now great pleasures issue
>From the miles that we do
On our bicycle built for two!
Baby Arlyn, our sweet precious
little load,
In your trailer you follow us down the road.
We’re happy to have you near us!
Your presence does so much to cheer us!
And soon there will be
In our family
A new bicycle built for three!
Parent’s Lament
How else would we celebrate
Arlyn’s first birthday except with a new song? To
the tune of “Home on the Range”
Parents' Lament:
In our once-lovely home now does a toddler roam
And nothing is safe anymore
So seldom is heard a multi-syllable word
And there's always food thrown on the floor.
Toddler's Chorus
One! It's good to be one!
I keep Mommy and Dad on the run!
Nothing stands in my way when it's time to play
Destruction is part of the fun!
Oh, the pets run and hide when the
child's inside
For fear he'll pull soft ear or tail.
What scares them so much is the ungentle touch
That happens when chubby arms flail!
(chorus)
We've locked all the doors and
secured all the drawers
And covered the outlets up tight.
From basement to roof we are now baby-proof
And must climb over gates in the night.
(chorus)
Lest you think it's all work with
nary a perk,
Let me hasten to say that's not so.
No Olympic athlete, whatever the feat,
Burns more cal'ries than a Mom on the go.
(chorus)
Oh there's no joy above that
compares to the love
That a child on a parent bestows.
Happiness o'ercomes strife everyday of this life
As we watch how our little one grows.
Toddler Chorus, reprised
One! It's good to be one!
My Mommy and Daddy are fun!
I'm as glad as can be to be with them, you see
My family is second to none.
