Submission Guidelines

We like you…
We really, really like you…
BUT — we have some guidelines.

What Kind of Content Do We Accept?

Anything that is useful for our readers is good content for a guest post here. Recipes, crafts, parenting/relationship/marital stories (that are humorous of course!), jokes — stuff along those lines.

Look at the categories we write about on this blog and you should be able to get the feel for what content we would accept.

We do have some older content that is super brief with not much to them. We’ve opted to keep them – but moving forward we’d like more “meaty” posts from our readers. So if it’s a recipe — maybe a story about what you love about it, occasions you serve it at or traditions that you use the recipe for.

Same for crafts — we get that you can sum up making a “hand turkey” real quick by just saying “trace your hand on construction paper” — but we need more (Google needs more too, to be honest). Our readers want more as well. You’re probably one of our readers… don’t you want more?

The only exception would probably be jokes. They really can’t be made longer. We understand.

General Guidelines

We’d love it if you gave us original, just-for-us content. We realize you’re probably just re-posting something to get exposure over here on our site. We understand that.  But if at all possible… please make it original. We’d hate to get the Google DING for duplicate content.

You can include ONE link in the byline, which will be displayed at the bottom of the post. No affiliate links though. A link to a legitimate website, please. (Meaning – NO affiliate links!)

We need a real person’s name for the author and not a company name. However, you can include your company name in the byline. Here’s an example:

About the Author: Becky Smecky is the author and works at BooBecky Techy Blog (BooBecky Techy Blog would have a link to their web page) where she provides cool stuff for her customers who will also be super cool and techy too.

Formatting Guidelines

Please format your guest post as an HTML document, so that we can copy and paste it into the WordPress HTML editor.

Use H3 tags for sub-headings.

Make sure to include the author byline at the bottom, with the link to your website already formatted (do not spam keywords there).

Submission Guidelines

If you have a post that meets the guidelines above, you can send it to us using this submission form.

We check and respond to all guest post submissions. We don’t respond right away to submissions. In fact, it could take up to a week (or two) to hear from us.

If your post is rejected you should get an answer from us explaining the reason.

A note on quality: Please don’t submit thin, keyword-stuffed rubbish, hoping to gain a backlink to your site and that’s all. Guest blogging is much more than just a backlink. It represents your reputation as well as your company’s reputation/brand. We’re not being harsh – we’re being honest.

Tips to make it work: Send the best content you can. This blog is written in English. If English is not your native language then consider having someone proof-read your content before sending.

Again, if gaining a backlink is the most important thing to you for guest blogging then don’t guest blog here at ParentingHumor.

Internal Links and Affiliate Links

Where applicable, we might include internal links in the guest blog post that point to blog posts on ParentingHumor. We also might include affiliate links in the guest blog post using our affiliate ids or third party affiliates where applicable. We’ll provide images for your post, but — please feel free to attach a Pinterest Pin image if you like. We’ll do our best to use it if it’s professional quality, relevant to your post and meets Pinterest’s current size criteria.

Final Words on ParentingHumor

This site is actually HUGE. It might not seem like it right now — but it’s over 2,000 pages and we’re working on rebuilding it after a failed disaster to move it’s old, cryptic HTML format into WordPress. So we’re doing it manually, post-by-post, creating new images along the way — so please don’t be put off by the site’s “current state”. It will be grand again, and mainly because we’ve had so many awesome readers submit their amazing content throughout the years. We hope you’ll be one of them!
